As women, we are constantly bombarded with images of what the “ideal” body should look like. And for many of us, that image doesn’t quite match our own reality. This is especially true when it comes to our breasts. For many women, the size and position of their breasts are a major source of insecurity and unhappiness. If you’re unhappy with the size or position of your breasts, you may be considering breast augmentation and a breast lift. In this blog post, we will discuss when you need breast augmentation and when you need a breast lift.

Why do women undergo breast surgery?

Several conditions can lead to breast changes. Some of them are:

Surgical procedures like breast lift and breast augmentation are done to not only improve the appearance of the breasts but also address several other issues like asymmetry. For some females, breast augmentation or breast lift is a way to feel more confident, while for others, it may be a part of rebuilding the breast after various conditions.

What is breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation surgery is used to increase the size of the breasts. This surgery involves putting breast implants under the breast tissue or chest muscles or taking fat from other parts of the body and injecting it into the breasts.

When is breast augmentation surgery combined with breast lift surgery?

Breast augmentation focuses on increasing the size and contour of your breasts, whereas a breast lift focuses on the position of your breasts.

If you’re concerned about both the position and size of your breasts, a breast lift and breast augmentation can be performed at the same time. Although they are two different procedures, they are complementary and are often combined for optimal results. The combination of these procedures raises your breasts, increases their size, and reshapes them in one outpatient procedure.

By combining procedures, your breasts will have a more flattering shape with increased volume.

How are breast lift and breast augmentation surgeries performed?

Both breast lift and breast augmentation surgeries are performed under general anesthesia.

In breast augmentation surgery with implants, incisions are made in the crease beneath the breast, around the areola, or in the armpit. The surgeon then inserts an implant into the pocket created by the incision. The incisions are then closed with sutures. In breast augmentation through fat grafting, the surgeon removes fat from another part of the body using liposuction and injects it into the breasts.

In breast lift surgery, the surgeon makes incisions around the areola, vertically from the bottom of the areola to the crease beneath the breast, and along the crease beneath the breast. The surgeon then removes excess skin and lifts the nipple-areola complex. The incisions are then closed with sutures.

After either procedure, you will be taken to a recovery room where you will be monitored for any complications. You will usually stay in the hospital overnight.

What will be the results after breast augmentation and a breast lift?

The final results of breast surgery depend on the procedure performed, as well as the size, shape, and position of the implants. Following breast augmentation, your breasts will be larger, more shapely, and symmetrical. In general, you’ll have a bust that is fuller and more attractive.

The breast lift procedure can take droopy, saggy breasts and turn them into pert, youthful-looking ones. The sagging will be diminished, the nipple area will be repositioned, and you’ll see a more overall youthful breast contour and appearance.

If you have both procedures done at the same time, you will have larger, uplifted breasts that are symmetrical.

How long do the results of breast augmentation and breast lift last?

The results of breast augmentation are long-lasting. After the surgery, you’ll have larger, more shapely breasts that will remain the same size unless you gain or lose weight. It is important to remember, however, that implants are not indestructible. There is a chance of the implants leaking or getting ruptured, although this is rare. That is why it is important to get your breast implants checked periodically by your surgeon.

The results of a breast lift are also long-lasting. The surgery will correct the position of your breasts, and they will remain in their new position for many years. However, as you age, your skin will continue to stretch and gravity will take its toll, so a repeat breast lift procedure may be necessary in the future.

If you have both procedures done at the same time, your results will last longer. If a breast lift is combined with breast augmentation using implants, the implants will help support your breasts and prevent them from sagging. If a breast lift is combined with breast augmentation using fat grafting, then the fat grafting rounds out the shape of your breasts and helps to support them.
